Learn a pattern. Use it yourself.

Start with a topic you need in conversation. Each lesson includes an explanation, examples, practice questions and answers you can reveal when you are ready. Reading and checking answers does not require sign-in.

A path through the basics

If you are starting English, work through these in order. First describe who you are with be. Then choose the nouns you need with a, an and the. Finally, talk about your routine with the present simple. The level labels are study guides, not exam results.

  1. Am, is and are: introduce yourself

A1 · Describe people, places and feelings, then turn your statements into negatives and questions.

  2. A, an and the: make the noun clear

A1–A2 · Choose an article by sound and meaning, introduce an object, and refer to it again without confusing the listener.

  3. Present simple: talk about your routine

A1–A2 · Describe regular actions, choose the right verb ending, and ask questions with do and does.

Use vocabulary in a real exchange

Borrow or lend? follows an umbrella from one person to another. Practise asking for an item, saying when you will return it, and describing the exchange afterwards.

Make the lesson stick

Read an example aloud. Cover it and recreate the sentence using a person, place or object from your own life. Check your version against the rule, then return another day and try without looking. If you recognise the correct option but cannot produce your own sentence, practise that step again.
